As Nine Lanterns sang the last line, a beer bottle came flying through the air. It landed with a crash on his table, overturning beer glasses and bowls of melon seeds. Nine Lanterns and the others were scared out of their wits. The romantic song faded in the air.

“Motherfucker! Who did that?” roared Nine Lanterns, standing up with a beer bottle in his hand.

Trio, Xiaobo and the other Princelings all stood up.

“Me!”

When Nine Lanterns saw who it was, he lost some of his momentum. Anyone knew that the parents of those guys were all tycoons or officials in the city government. Besides, Xiaobo was Zhao Hongbing’s nephew.

“Who were you yelling at, motherfucker?” Trio and the others came marching over. Nine Lanterns didn’t dare say anything.

When facing a thug like Big Ears, Nine Lanterns was ready to pick up a chunk of brick and lay into him. However, he didn’t dare make a move against cowards like Trio Yuan, who’d made their names through fighting. Nine Lanterns’ father sold pork, and Trio Yuan’s old man was a senior official. If Trio Yuan crippled Nine Lanterns in a fight, at most he’d have to pay some compensation. But if Nine Lanterns injured Trio, what would happen to him? That’s why he didn’t dare to move or even speak.

“You think being a good singer makes you hot shit, eh?” Trio and his crew were standing in front of him now.

“Don’t you recognize me, Xiaobo? It’s Nine Lanterns!”

The karaoke lounge was dimly lit, but Nine Lanterns was able to recognize Zhao Xiaobo. He hadn’t even finished speaking when Trio gave him a slap in the face. Trio was about to kick him as well, but Xiaobo held him back.

Nine Lanterns didn’t say anything.

“He hangs out with M3. I know him. Don’t hit him. If you do, Uncle Zhang will hear about it and give me a hard time.” Xiaobo was able to pull some weight in the group.

“Just fucking watch yourself from now on!” Trio shouted, turning to leave.

Just when anyone would have least expected it, Da Zhi stood up and flicked open his switchblade.

“Where the fuck are you going?”

Nine Lanterns was like a brother to Da Zhi, and he couldn’t stand to see him browbeaten like that. Coming from the countryside, Da Zhi didn’t know anything about Trio Yuan’s background or what it implied.

Trio and his group had started to walk away but they turned back.

“Who are you?” Zhao Xiaobo asked impatiently. He’d just broken up the fight and now Da Zhi was stirring things up again.

“You think you can get away with knocking my brother around?” Da Zhi flicked back his long hair.
